Number of bars and what they indicate

The number of bars as shown in the image above, can help determine the Arlo camera’s wireless connectivity. More the number of bars, the better will be the performance. Infact, when the camera receives the maximum signals, the battery life will also be longer. Here is some more information on the number of signals and what they indicate:

No bars/No signal at all

When the camera receives no signals, you’ll see the signal indicator with an exclamation sign over it . This means that the camera is not connected to a network and is offline.

A single bar

You will only see the bottom dot in green color. This means that the camera is at the border/limit of the network range. Under these circumstances, the wireless router may lose network connection with the Arlo base station at any time. When a camera works under such conditions, the video quality will drop and the battery life will degrade as well.

Two signal bars

The wireless signals strength is Ok, however still not satisfactory. There will be a risk of frequent disconnections and low video quality. Again, teh battery life will not remain optimal.

Three bars

The signal quality that the Arlo camera is receiving is Good and satisfactory. There will be fewer chances of disconnection and video streaming will be better as well.

Full signals

This is the best state your Arlo camera can work in. The signal quality is the best and the chances of disconnection will be almost negligible. You will get the best video streaming quality and battery life will be the longest.

What to do when you get low signals for Arlo Camera’s?

Device signal strength is influenced by a lot of factors. These may include the environment, and the device as well. If your device performance is low, and the firmware isn’t updated, you will face issues with the range. Alternatively, if your router is located in a place with interference from electrical appliances like microwave, smart TV, and more, the signal quality will again deteriorate. Moreover, if there are obstacles in the path of the signals, the quality will reduce. Therefore, make sure the wifi router and camera are installed at a place with minimal interference and maximum line-of-sight contact.
